Richard Ellis is a photojournalist and travel photographer based in Charleston, SC. He has worked as a foreign correspondent for Reuters News Service from 1984 until 1994 during which he was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize 3 times. His images have been published in every major media outlet around the world. He returned to the United States in 1994 and covered the White House for Sygma News Photos during the Clinton Administration. In 1996 he founded Newsmakers, the first online news photo service. Newsmakers was acquired by Getty Images in 1999 and became Getty Images Editorial, now the world’s largest photo service. Ellis was with Getty Images until 2007. He now works as a photographer and consultant to the photo industry from his home in Charleston.
